18.2hh grey Shire horse retires to The Horse Trust at the age of 18, after…
The Horse Trust and Your Horse Live raise the roof for Teddy and Klyde
The Horse Trust has been chosen as nominated charity at Your Horse Live 2013, one of the UK’s biggest equestrian events. Your Horse magazine, who organises the event, has been working all year to raise money to build new stables for our littlest and largest residents, Teddy and Klyde.
Teddy Makes a Miraculous Recovery
Teddy and Klyde live at The Horse Trust with 100 other retired or rescued horses, ponies and donkeys. Tiny Teddy was rescued and brought to The Horse Trust after being found dumped on the side of the road when he was just 8-weeks old. He went on to make a miraculous recovery and win the hearts of legions of dedicated fans who followed his story on Facebook.
Klyde – Tallest Police Horse in the Country
At 19hh retired Police Horse Big Klyde was thought to be the tallest police horse in the country and is now the tallest horse at The Horse Trust. He served with the Cleveland Mounted Police for 10 years, bravely protecting his community from unrest and controlling the crowds at hundreds of football matches. Big Klyde has now retired to The Horse Trust and spends his days relaxing in the beautiful Chiltern countryside.
The money raised by Your Horse Magazine will help pay for our new specially built little and large stables to keep Teddy and Klyde warm and dry this winter. Your Horse staff and readers have been taking part in all kinds of crazy challenges to raise funds for The Horse Trust from a sponsored silence to a 10km Water Wipeout Run. They have even auctioned items donated by celebrities including Katy Price and Oliver Townend. A copy of a script from the BBC TV show Merlin, signed by Anthony Head (Uther Pendragon) even raised £379!
Imogen Johnson, editor of Your Horse said ‘The moment the Your Horse team and I heard The Horse Trust was appealing for help to rebuild its famous Home of Rest for Horses in Buckinghamshire we all knew we had to take action’.
Your Horse readers have given generously and have now raised well over £3,000 to help pay for Teddy and Klyde’s new stables.
Your Horse Live, the UK’s biggest equestrian shopping event, takes place on 9th and 10th November at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire. The event promises to deliver two amazing, action packed days featuring demonstrations, shopping, a horse village and talks from equestrian experts and celebrities. Visitors to the event will be able to meet us at our stand situated in the Norbrook Rescue Village, so please pop along and say hello!
Jeanette Allen, Chief Executive of The Horse Trust said ‘We’d like to thank all of the Your Horse readers who have kindly supported Teddy and Klyde this year. With their help, we have been able to build a bigger stable for 19hh Big Klyde and provide a safe home for rescue pony Teddy’.
