Tis the season to be jolly! Horse sponsors enjoy a fun-filled festive afternoon at The Horse Trust

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at The Horse Trust after the Sponsors Christmas Party last weekend. Our brand new sponsorship scheme was launched in May this year, and offers supporters the chance to sponsor one of their favourite horses, ponies or donkeys from as little as £2 a month.
A Big Thank You

The Sponsors Christmas Party provided a chance for us to say thank you to those who have opted to sponsor a horse by putting on an afternoon of festive delights! Guests enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies in the Black Beauty Tea Room, Christmas arts and crafts and the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping. The horses were waiting to greet their sponsors, and the stockings on their stable doors soon filled up with polos and carrots! Spindles Farm rescue donkeys Gladys, Lola and Nora posed beautifully in the Nativity scene and even seemed to enjoy the music when everybody gathered together to sing Christmas carols!

The highlight of the afternoon was the arrival of Father Christmas, who gave his reindeer the afternoon off and entered the yard by horse drawn carriage, pulled by none other than The Horse Trust’s Star. Rescued in 2008 from the horrors of Spindles Farm, Star has been driving for two years and this year visited highly respected heavy horseman Robert Sampson for further training. He now pulls his very own carriage and the Sponsors Party seemed the perfect occasion to show his most loyal fans how far he has come in the last 5 years. Star was helping to deliver carrots donated by The Old Plow Bistro and Restaurant in Speen who ran a ‘Carrots for Likes’ campaign on their Facebook page last month.

Sponsor a Horse

Star is just one of the horses available to sponsor at The Horse Trust. Teddy, who is also available to sponsor, was rescued in October 2012 after he had been left to die by the side of the road aged just 8 weeks old. Given a 50/50 chance of survival by his vets, it was touch and go for this dear pony. Teddy made an amazing recovery, and this Christmas it is a delight to see him doing so well.

Exclusive Events

Invitations to exclusive events are just one of the benefits of becoming a sponsor. Sponsors also receive a personalised certificate, photograph and fact sheet of their chosen horse as well as updates throughout the year. Sponsoring a horse is one of the greatest gifts you can give this Christmas.
