Our Thanks to The Household Cavalry

The Horse Trust would like to thank The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment (HCMR) for helping raise awareness of us and our work.  They have been sharing Facebook posts about our five new military arrivals, helping us to reach 2000 ‘Likes’ over the weekend.

We have a great relationship with the HCMR and have several of their retired horses at our sanctuary.  New arrivals Remus, Union, Zulu and Commando have all been retired to us from their duties with the HCMR and are settling in well.

2012 has seen one of the busiest ceremonial seasons in recent years with The Royal Wedding and Diamond Jubilee among other events.  The HCMR have recently published a new book ‘Uniquely British’, giving a fantastic visual insight into the behind-the-scenes preparations that have gone into these huge national events as well as intimate images from the front lines in Afghanistan.  Her Majesty The Queen has provided the signed preface.

All proceeds from the sale of the book go straight to the newly formed Household Cavalry Foundation ( to support our war wounded, bereaved families, veterans and retired horses.
