A Home for More Horses: Help Us Turn Vision Into Reality

At The Horse Trust, we’ve always believed that every horse deserves a safe and loving place to rest, recover, and simply be a horse. Thanks to your kindness, horses like Kahlo, Poppy, and Zara are now thriving here in Buckinghamshire – but there are many more who still need our help.

Today, we’re asking you to join us in something truly life-changing.

In 2019, a rare opportunity came our way: the chance to acquire a stretch of beautiful adjoining land that could offer sanctuary to up to 50 additional horses in need of rescue, retirement, or respite care. Generous legacy gifts made the purchase possible, but the pandemic brought our plans to a halt.

Now, we’re ready to move forward. And we can only do it with your help.

We need to raise £138,000 to transform this land into a fully functioning home. That includes secure fencing, water troughs, and safe, comfortable field shelters.

Every £22 you donate funds one metre of heavy-duty fencing; a small step with a huge impact.

Why This Matters

For horses like Kahlo, who was rescued from starvation and neglect, this expansion means the difference between life and death. Once sick and skeletal, Kahlo is now healthy and happy, finally able to show her sweet, gentle nature.

For retired service horses like Poppy, who served with Lancashire Police, and Zara, who was a part of ceremonial parades with the Household Cavalry, this space means a Home of Rest, and the dignity they’ve earned.

And for horses like Vida, who came to us following the widely reported incident in London involving loose cavalry horses, it offers a temporary haven – space to heal before returning to duty.
