A place to relax and enjoy
The Horse Trust’s Black Beauty Tea Room offers visitors to our Home of Rest for Horses the chance to relax and enjoy a range of tasty treats including hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes, cream teas and ice cream.
Set in a beautifully restored Grade II listed tithe barn and surrounded by 200 acres of stunning Chilterns countryside, the Black Beauty Tea Room is the perfect place to enjoy a cream tea whatever the weather.
The Black Beauty Tea Room is named after the famous novel which in 1886 inspired our founder Miss Ann Lindo to establish a charity to help the working horses of London. To this day the charity continues to help working horses, providing horses and ponies who have served our nation with a dignified retirement at our Home of Rest for Horses. The Horse Trust also provides sanctuary for horses, ponies and donkeys that have been rescued from cruelty or neglect. Horses like our modern day Black Beauty Duke who is pictured on the sign outside the tea room. Duke was rescued from Spindles Farm in Amersham, the site of one of the worst cases of animal cruelty the UK has ever seen. Duke was so ill we didn’t think he would survive but today he is a happy, healthy horse.
Pop-in and see us
Why not pop in during your visit to enjoy a cream tea, cake or hot drink all served with a smile. All of the delicious cakes in our tea room are freshly handmade by a local baker.
The Tea Room is open Thursday – Sunday plus Bank Holidays 2-4pm

Proceeds from gift sales help us to care for the horses, ponies and donkeys at our Home of Rest for Horses, so now you can even help horses whilst you shop.
