BELTHORN

Belthorn is affectionately known as ‘DJ’.

He retired to us from the Lancashire Constabulary Mounted Branch based in Preston. Described as a ‘hot and fizzy’ horse, he proved to be a real challenge to ride for many police officers!

DJ policed many major events including high profile football matches, processions and displays. He also patrolled the streets of Lancashire, attended school visits and was used on courses for trainee mounted officers as he was such a challenge! DJ was always dependable and extremely brave, frequently taking the lead when faced with scenes of disorder or crowd control.
