Are you an equine professional? Do you have an interest in equine research? If so, The Horse Trust’s TalkEquine Research webinars are for you!

We are delighted that Dr Rebecca Smith will be joining us again on Wednesday 19th June 2024 from 7.30-9pm for another fantastic TalkEquine Research webinar ‘Chronic pain management: results from a study of veterinary practices exploring horse owners’ and veterinarians’ experiences’.

This webinar will be of interest to anyone involved in horse care and will give in-depth insights into people’s everyday experiences and decision making – it’s going to be another must watch for all equine professionals and anyone interested in equine research.

Overview: The prevention and management of chronic pain is important for horse welfare. The human-horse relationship, and the decisions made regarding a horse’s management, shape their experiences in life and the type of health care that they receive. Dr Smith will outline the background to the study and its importance, before moving on to discuss the qualitative research methods adopted. Findings from analysis of data collected through observations of veterinary consultations, as well as interviews with vets and with horse owners who have sought veterinary services for their animal, will be presented. Opportunities to support decision making and communication regarding pain management that have been identified through the study will also be highlighted.
