When pasture grazing is not possible on our site in the winter months, hay is even more vital for feeding the 130+ equines at our sanctuary. Last year it cost The Horse Trust £51,178.57 to provide the 2,074 bales of hay needed to feed the horses in our care. Increased costs of Diesel and loss of our suppliers’ ability to use far cheaper “Red Diesel” means costs have not come down at all from last year’s record high, despite a good harvest.
