A New Arrival from The RAF Halton Saddle Club

On the 26th October 2012 we welcomed our newest resident Cordoba, a 15 year old Bay Gelding. Affectionately known as ‘Dobes’, he joins us from The RAF Halton Saddle Club.

The Saddle Club aims to ensure personnel from all ranks and experience have the chance to become involved in horse riding. They are also Pony Club accredited and run sessions for children, so they can enjoy the ‘hands on’ experience of riding. They also work with the Riding for the Disabled Association, providing weekly lessons to local school children with a range of disabilities. Cordoba was used as a hack and for lessons with those who were more experienced in riding.  He also competed with the RAF Equestrian Team.

After several attempts (three to be exact) Cordoba reluctantly got into the horse trailer and made his way to The Home of Rest for Horses. After arriving he was put in one of the fields, which just happened to be next to the Shetland ponies. After just one glance across to them, it was safe to say that Dobes was ever so slightly petrified of Shetland ponies Bob and Piglet. Even small Chestnut Starlight spooked poor Cordoba. We are sure that Cordoba will have no problem making friends, even with the Shetland ponies.
