Fenella Retired
A warm welcome to Fenella, a beautiful black mare from the Household Cavalry.
Fenella arrived to our site alongside her friend Hagrid on a significant day for The Horse Trust; Horses, Hounds & Heroes, where she took part in her last official service work at our horse parade, marking a brilliant end to a long and fruitful 19 year career with the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment.
Fenella was always well trusted within the team… she was known to be well mannered, sweet in temperament, placid and very well behaved. Because of her gentle nature, she was highly sought after by all riders and helped many new recruits learn the ropes.
Fenella was known as a stalwart of the Mounted Division and was ridden at numerous parades. She was even trusted as a steady and reliable mount for the musicians! Her claim to fame was serving at many of our late Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday parades and perhaps most notable she was ridden at the Platinum Jubilee in 2022!
Due to her age and recurring lameness, the HCMR decided it was time for Fenella to enjoy a peaceful life amongst the hills. We’re honoured that we can give Fenella the special retirement she deserves in the sanctuary of the peaceful Chiltern Hills countryside here, at our Home of Rest for Horses.
