Elizabeth, who was named after Queen Elizabeth II, served for several years as The Princess Royal’s Charger.
In the working photo above, she is the horse on the right, being ridden by The Princess Royal. Elizabeth would be ridden by The Princess Royal on special occasions such as birthday parades.
As she was such a kind and gentle horse, Elizabeth spent many years in the training wing, where soldiers learned to ride. However, due to her good looks she could also be found regularly on guard in the boxes at Horse Guards where she enjoyed being admired by the public.
Throughout her career Elizabeth took part in state and ceremonial duties such as The Royal Wedding in 2011, Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Parade, Major Generals Inspections and State openings of Parliament.
