Memorable Mother’s Day Treat at the Horse Trust
Record visitor numbers
Record numbers of visitors helped us celebrate Mother’s Day at The Horse Trust last weekend. Every Mum was presented with a complimentary gift as a thank you for supporting us on such a special day.
Visitors met new arrivals
Visitors enjoyed a relaxing afternoon browsing the stables. Among the horses on the yard were retired army horse Valerian and rescue pony Teddy. They were joined by one of The Horse Trust’s newest residents, Metropolitan Police horse Alfie. Alfie arrived in March 2014, having worked with the police for 14 years, and has been described as a fearless and courageous police horse! He adored all the fuss from everybody.
Some had the chance to groom a pony
While many enjoyed delightful refreshments in the incredibly popular Black Beauty Tea Room, others were treated to grooming demonstrations with the opportunity to have a go themselves. ‘Fleur’ a 23 year old rescue pony, certainly seemed to be enjoying the attention! There were also art and craft activities to join in with like card and badge making. Some Mums were even treated to a special gift of a Horse Sponsorship – the perfect Mother’s day gift!
Sponsor a horse, pony or donkey
There are 14 horses in the sponsorship scheme including Commando, Teddy and little Hamish, who was rescued in November 2013. Sponsorship starts from just £2.00 a month and sponsors will receive a photograph, a personalised certificate of sponsorship and a fact sheet as well as regular updates and invitations to exclusive events. Sponsor a Horse.
Thank you
Thank you to all those who came to celebrate with us and we look forward to seeing you again soon. For those of you who couldn’t join us on Sunday, find out when our opening hours are and we hope to see you soon!
