Horse Trust Hosts BEVA CPD day
On the 11th of October 2012 the Horse Trust hosted a British Equine Veterinary Association Dermatology Core Skills Workshop aimed at qualified veterinary surgeons and final year veterinary students. The course ran from 9am till 5 pm and around 18 delegates attended.
Equine Dermatology experts Professor Derek Knottenbelt and Mr Andy Durham delivered lectures covering general approaches to skin diseases, melanomas, sarcoids, pastern dermatitis and allergies including, diagnosis, treatment and prevention. The day also consisted of practical sessions including interesting cases, understanding logical steps to arrive at diagnosis, demonstration of diagnostic tests, skin scrapings and taking biopsies.
The course was designed to be interactive and attendee participation and discussion was actively encouraged. Attendees were also invited to submit case histories and pictures of cases that they would like to discuss with the experts.
