Bucks County Show 2011: Get Advice from Equine Experts at The Horse Trust’s Stand

A qualified vet, Jacqui has specialised in parasitology for over 20 years. She has developed an extensive research programme into drug resistance in horse worms and has published over 75 peer-reviewed research papers. Her talk will give an overview of horse worming, including practical advice for owners on how to worm their horses. After her talk, she will answer any questions that owners have on horse worming.

Rob Pascoe, a vet specialising in equine dentistry from Bell Equine Veterinary Clinic, will be giving a 30 minute presentation, followed by a question and answer session, on equine dental issues at 1pm. Bell Equine Veterinary Clinic operates a large specialist equine hospital and ambulatory practice in Maidstone, Kent.  Rob Pascoe has specialised in equine dentistry for over 10 years and has lectured worldwide on dentistry. He was only the second vet in the UK to achieve a prestigious equine dentistry qualification approved by the British Equine Veterinary Association and British Veterinary Dental Association.   As well as these events, The Horse Trust will have various members of staff at the stand all day, who will be able to answer questions on various topics, including the charity’s work, geriatric horses and equine welfare. Visitors will also have the chance to meet one of the sanctuary’s most popular residents, retired police horse Warwick.

Eight-year-old Warwick, a 17hh skewbald gelding, retired to the sanctuary in February. He worked for the Greater Manchester Police for four years and was described as having “a brilliant temperament for police work”. Sadly, Warwick had to retire from the force early, when he developed a condition known as Osteochontritis Dissecans (OCD) in his joints.
