SQUIGGY

Squiggy is an 11hh black gelding with a truly unforgettable personality, known for bringing joy and plenty of mischief to everyone here. He first arrived at The Horse Trust in 2011 with his close friend Fleur, who has since sadly passed. Despite his small stature, Squiggy has always had a way of making a big impression and capturing hearts with his playful antics and spirit. He quickly became a beloved figure in our herd, a pony whose presence never goes unnoticed.

Due to his tendency toward laminitis, Squiggy often spends time with our Shetlands, finding companionship and plenty of mischief with his friends Fidget and Widget. Together, they make a lively trio, each with their own quirks but united by a shared love of adventure. Squiggy’s small size and quick wit give him an edge, and he’s often spotted leading his friends into playful antics, his eyes sparkling with his next clever idea. To keep him engaged and to help manage his weight, our Knowledge & Skills team taught him to play football—an activity he absolutely loves. Watching him enthusiastically chase the ball, his mane bouncing as he charges across the field, is a sight that brings smiles to everyone around.

Though we don’t know much about Squiggy’s life before he joined us, it’s clear that he’s found his place here. Recently, Squiggy’s circle of friends has grown to include Teddy and Star, who have welcomed him among the “big boys.” But true to form, Squiggy holds his own, ruling the roost with his tiny but mighty attitude, a reminder that size is no measure of spirit. His confidence and playful nature make him a natural leader, and he’s often the one showing his larger friends how to have a little fun!

For a time, Squiggy also spent a season with a loving loan family who took wonderful care of him. When it was time for him to return to us, we were thrilled to welcome him back into the herd, knowing the place simply isn’t the same without him. Squiggy is a perfect example of the joy and personality that a little pony can bring, and he continues to be a favourite among our team and supporters alike. His spirit, energy, and sheer charm light up our days, and he’s an irreplaceable part of our family here.
