2024 Year in Review: A Heartfelt Thank You from The Horse Trust

Is it too late to say it? Happy New Year! As we look back on an incredible year, we want to say a huge thank you to you – our amazing supporters. Without your generosity, we simply couldn’t provide the care our retired and rescue horses deserve.

Thanks to you, we’ve been able to give our herd of 130 horses the best care possible and continue our work supporting horses across the country. We’ve welcomed new horses, and though it’s always hard, we’ve said farewell to some of our dear residents. Your support helps us provide a peaceful, loving home for these horses in retirement and a safe place for rescues in need.

A Big Shoutout to Our Teams

Our dedicated team of talented professionals work tirelessly to care for our horses, no matter the season. Their work, from exciting veterinary case studies like Gus’ recovery to successful rehomings like Inca Dove, has made a huge difference. You can read more about this in our Winter 2024 Newsletter.

Your Support Makes It Possible

We’re deeply grateful for your support, which has helped us cover the £134,000 per month it costs to care for our herd, especially during the colder months. We’re fully funded by public donations, and your contributions, through sponsorships, fundraising, legacies, or even visits, make all the difference. You can’t imagine the impact of your generosity.

What’s Coming in 2025? Exciting Plans Ahead

Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited to announce plans to expand our visitor experiences at the Home of Rest for Horses. We’ll soon be improving access to our Woodland Walk, allowing you to see even more of our beautiful grounds and meet more of our amazing horses.

Social Media Milestone: We’ve Grown Thanks to You

On social media, we’ve seen incredible growth – our Instagram followers have soared from 10k to nearly 30k! Thanks for helping spread the word about our horses.

Thanks to our sponsors, we’ve raised £85,000 for our herd’s ongoing care. But beyond that, your donations, time, and belief in our mission have made this year unforgettable. Together, we’ve given our horses a well-deserved, loving retirement.
