Rest In Peace, Bramble

Today, we gather in thought to honour the life of Bramble, who has sadly passed away at the age of 25 years old from a bout of colic which proved untreatable. Bramble gave so much to Gaddesden Place Riding for the Disabled Association throughout his decade long career before coming here to The Horse Trust to enjoy a well-deserved retirement in 2023.

A smart and compact bay cob standing at 13.2 hands high, Bramble was a gentle soul who gave laughter and smiles to all he met throughout his career. To Bramble, riding was more than work; it was a calling. He allowed riders to mount from an electric ramp, be hoisted onto him and ride him in a sheepskin pad rather than a saddle if that would bring them greater physical benefit. A pony with a heart of gold, he took part in countless sponsored rides, open days and several virtual dressage tests. In his years with Gaddesden Place RDA, Bramble gave his all and he leaves a legacy of love, strength, and compassion.

After his many years of service, and one final ride at the regional RDA dressage competition, Bramble was welcomed into a richly earned retirement here at The Horse Trust, where he spent his days surrounded by kindness, care, and love. In the time he had with us, Bramble enjoyed the peace and quiet he was more than worthy of, knowing he had made a difference in more lives than words could ever capture. He wandered our pastures alongside his companions, his days filled with sunshine, green grass and the knowledge that he was cherished. The Horse Trust was his sanctuary, a place where he could rest in the warmth of a life well lived and fully appreciated, like all the equines both retired and rescued that reside here. The lovely Bramble was popular with all, making him a perfect candidate for our sponsorship scheme and we would like to thank those who supported him during his retirement.

Rest peacefully now, sweet Bramble. You gave your all and more, and you leave us with hearts full of gratitude. May you roam free and happy across boundless fields, knowing your legacy of love, courage, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.
