Burniston was purchased in 1996 and went on the serve for 18 years; both at the Defence Animal Training Regiment where she underwent basic training and then for the Household Division. It was here that she played centre stage in Trooping the Colour as the centre horse for the officer that controls the parade! Burniston has also played a part in the opening of Parliament and numerous State visits.
Burniston has recently spent some time at the Royal Veterinary College receiving treatment for a fractured splint bone in her hind leg. Burniston seems to be thoroughly enjoying all the extra fuss that she is receiving whilst on box rest.
