Bud arrived at The Horse Trust in October 2019 after serving with the West Yorkshire Mounted Police and the Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch for a combined total of 14 years!
Bud began his Police service in July 2005 with West Yorkshire Police where he was involved in all aspects of mounted policing. In 2015, he was donated to the Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch during their downsizing programme. Bud had the very important job of teaching new and current police officers to ride and also escorting the young horses in training out on the roads and on duty.
In April 2013, Bud made national news when he was punched by a football fan in the face during a Newcastle v Sunderland Football match. The male was arrested and received a 12 month prison sentence for violent disorder. Luckily Bud was unharmed and returned to his duties shortly after the incident.
We are so fortunate to have such a brave and commendable horse retire with us! Bud is a true gentleman in every way and is loved by all who meet him.
